Godspeed You! Black Emperor sempre teve a coragem de empurrar a música
rock como a conhecemos além de seus limites, proporcionando uma música
simultaneamente celestial, orquestral, épica, escura, pessimista e optimista...
Enfim, adjectivos (e sentimentos) não faltam para descrever o seu trabalho. Assim,
quando anunciaram o hiato por tempo indeterminado em 2003, os GY!BE deixaram no
mundo do agora tão apropriadamente nomeado post-rock uma lacuna enorme que
muitos tentaram, de uma forma ou outra, preencher ou ultrapassar.
Passados dez anos desde que Yanqui U.X.O., o último registro da banda, foi apresentado ao
público, em ‘Allelujah! Don’t Bend!
Ascend! estamos mais uma vez perante um conjunto de (quatro) composições
musicais, cada qual um segmento que aparenta violento ao início, mas que,
eventualmente, revela toda a sua complexidade e beleza. Drones
pós-apocalípticos, montagens magnificas de violinos frenéticos aliados a
guitarras titânicas, que conduzem a momentos épicos em que o ouvinte não quer
que terminem. Mais que um disco, este novo trabalho dos GY!BE traz-nos
esperança, cada vez mais necessária num mundo em crise.
Aguardado desde que a banda de Montreal, Quebec anunciou a
sua reunião para vários espectáculos pontuais em 2010 e 2011, e anunciado em
inícios deste mês, ‘Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! foi lançado no dia 15 do
mesmo. Destaque Freeze! nesta semana que antecede a visita dos canadianos ao
nosso país, já no próximo domingo, dia 28 de Outubro, eles que encabeçam o
cartaz da 2ª edição do festival Amplifest, tocando no Hard Club, na cidade do
Porto.
