FREEZE! Russian Circles - Memorial [28.10.13; 01.11.13]

Com 4 álbuns na bagagem, os norte-americanos Russian Circles não se dão por satisfeitos. Memorial, é o nome do novo trabalho, editado a 29 de Outubro, mais uma vez pela Sargent House.

A banda de Chicago tem vindo a demonstrar ao longo dos últimos 10 anos que o post-metal (aquele híbrido de post-rock e metal) lhe corre nas veias. No entanto, Memorial é mais um álbum que volta a demonstrar a capacidade do colectivo se reinventar, sem cair na criação de clones de trabalhos anteriores, ainda que com roupagem diferente.

Novamente com o apoio de Brandon Curtis na produção, a banda surge ainda mais negra e sombria, contrastando com momentos de serenidade e harmonia, uma dualidade já praticada em trabalhos anteriores. Memoriam dá início ao álbum em tom suave, formando um prelúdio introspectivo que nos prepara para a avalanche de emoções que nos embala ao longo dos 9 temas que constituem o novo trabalho. Temas como Burial, 1777 ou Deficit surgem agressivamente, deixando bem claro o peso e pujança ainda bem patente na música dos norte-americanos. É, contudo, através de Cheyenne ou Ethel que nos deixamos embalar pela beleza dos instrumentos do trio, que tem o seu expoente máximo com Memorial, faixa que terminaria o álbum tal como inicia, não fosse a bela voz de Chelsea Wolfe abrilhantar este tema final.

Os Russian Circles seguem agora pela Europa fora a apresentar Memorial, acompanhados também por Chelsea Wolfe, numa tournée em que Portugal não foi esquecido, com um estrondoso concerto no Amplifest'13. Um álbum em destaque no FREEZE! até ao final desta semana!
