FREEZE! Swearin': "Surfing Strange" (Salinas/Wichita, 20113) [02.12.13; 06.12.13]

Depois do homónimo que no ano passado marcou a estreia do coletivo de Filadélfia liderado por Alison Crushfield, Swearin' oferecem-nos agora "Surfing Strange", sob a chancela da etiqueta punk de Detroit, Salinas Records (a edição britânica veio a ser da responsabilidade da editora londrina Wichita).

Alisson Crushfield partilha a composição, as guitarras e a voz com Kyle Gilbride. Keith Spencer (que também faz parte de Waxahatchee, projecto da irmã gémea de Alison) assegura o baixo, e Jeff Bolt a bateria.

Deste segundo longa-duração, gravado e auto-produzido no verão passado e resultante dum esforço muito mais colaborativo do que o primeiro, podemos destacar "Watered Down", com honras de primeiro single, e "Dust in the Gold Sack", a garantir uma abertura fortíssima ao registo que nos oferece, durante onze faixas a particular combinação de distorção, melodia e letras que são autênticos trava-línguas, um todo que se cola facilmente à memória. Se é esta a combinação que destingue o som dos Swearin', são igualmente audíveis as influências dos Pixies, de Sabadoh, Dinossaur Jr ou My Bloody Valentine.

O entusiasmo e a energia de "Surfing Strange" vão invadir o espaço FREEZE! até à proxima 6ª feira.
