Viet Cong - Viet Cong (Jagjaguwar, 2015)

Os canadianos Viet Cong lançam na próxima semana, 19 de Janeiro, o seu álbum de estreia, por mão da editora sediada no Indiana, a Jagjaguwar.
O colectivo formado em 2012 por Michael Wallace, Matthew Flegel,  Scott Monroe, Daniel Christensen chega então até nós com o primeiríssimo trabalho de estúdio, o homónimo Viet Cong (sendo que Wallace e Flegel são parte dos Women, banda que se encontra igualmente sob a alçada da Jagjaguwar).

Apesar de Viet Cong ser o longa duração de estreia, a banda de Calgary já nos tinham presenteado com Cassette EP, a 5 de Setembro de 2013, EP este que tinha sido lançado primeiramente em formato cassete, e que mais à frente foi reeditado e apresentado num formato que nos poderia ludibriar, tal que Cassette EP fosse o LP de estreia dos Viet Cong.

Recheado de sonoridades post-punk e experimentalistas, o homónimo de estreia dos Viet Cong leva-nos por um comboio de sensações, avivando na memória de quem os ouve nomes como os Joy Division, ou mais remotamente, no que toca ao registo vocal, os Interpol, tal como podemos escutar mais afincadamente em Pointless Experience ou em Continental Shelf. 

Um dos álbuns mais aguardados de 2015, o progénito dos Viet Cong estará em rotação durante esta semana, entre as 14h e 15h, no Fahrenheit 107.9, bastando apenas sintonizar os 107.9fm da nossa querida Rádio Universidade de Coimbra, ou conectarem-se a ruc.fm.
