As últimas gravações de Dalevid Allen Weird, guitarrista, vocalista e membro fundador dos Soft Machine e dos Gong! grangearam colaborações como as de Don Falcone, do projecto Spirit Burning, nas teclas, e de elementos dos Tubes e dos The Muffins na persussão (nomeadamente Trey Sabatelli e Paul Sears).Todas as composições são originais e o conjunto que compõe "Elevenses" evoca uma viagem pelos estilos que Weird visitou ao longo da carreira, incluindo blues, ambient e pós-punk.

As treze faixas do álbum editado pela Purple Pyramid em 12 de Fevereiro levam a cabo essa revisitação de estilos. Entre Transloopthismessage e Banana Construction, sabem, porém, conjugar a nostalgia com uma sonoridade actual, como se a segunda década do séc. XXI reinterpretasse o psicadelismo dos anos 70.

A formação que constitui o Daevid Allen Weird Quartet conta ainda com um quinto elemento, a sublinhar a estranheza do projecto: trata-se do baixista Michael Clare,que fez parte de outra aventura de Weird, Daevid Allen's University of Errors. Falecido em Março do ano passado, Daevid deixa-nos o seu último registo que preencherá o destaque Freeze! desta semana.
