God Damn - Vultures (One Little Indian, 2015)

De Wolverhampton, Inglaterra, chega até nós Vultures, trabalho de estreia para os God Damn, duo composto por Thom Edward na guitarra/voz e Ash Weaver na bateria. Lançado a 11 de Maio, com selo da One Little Indian, Vultures é uma tempestade de rock, desde "Horseley Fields" até "Sullen Fun", tema que fecha este álbum.

As comparações aos conterrâneos Royal Blood e Slaves (outras duas duplas das terras de sua majestade) são irrevogáveis. Na bagagem, trazem consigo as influências das sonoridades dos Pixies, The Jesus Lizard, Nirvana , Black Sabbath, The Mars Volta, Electric Wizard, ou até Neutral Milk Hotel e Portishead. Vultures apresenta-nos então um universo sonoro, que balança entre o lo-fi e o sludge rock, como podemos escutar em "Skeletons", passando pelo lado obscuro do psicadelismo em "By The Way Side", estendendo ainda a mão a riffs dignos de estrela Michelin, como em "Vultures", faixa que dá nome ao longa duração, ou em "Shoeprints".

Uma boa dose de rock, a ser consumida esta semana, entre as 14h e as 15h no Fahrenheit 107.9, sempre na telefonia da Rádio Universidade de Coimbra.

Depois de um pequeno EP lançado em 2012, os portugueses 10 000 Russos regressam em grande com o seu primeiro longa-duração. Apesar de inicialmente constituídos por João Pimenta (bateria) e Pedro Pestana (guitarra), 10 000 Russos são agora um trio completo pela presença de André Couto (baixo), trazendo o grave que faltava à massa sonora de devaneios psicadélicos, ritmos motóricos germânicos e drones caóticos.

As paisagens são obscuras, marcadas pelo galopante ritmo repetitivo da percussão de João Pimenta, que também se debruça sobre o microfone, relatando a viagem por entre murmúrios fantasmagóricos. André Couto constrói a linha de baixo, outrora inexistente mas há muito presente nos concertos ao vivo, criando o pano de fundo ideal para os riffs, delays e reverbs da guitarra de Pedro Pestana.

Saído do nicho de rock que é o Centro Comercial Stop no Porto, “10 000 Russos” vê a luz do dia com o selo da Fuzz Club Records, responsável por lançamentos de nomes como Black Angels, The Wands ou Singapore Slings.

Um álbum para ouvir ao longo de toda a semana no Fahrenheit 107.9, no éter da Rádio Universidade de Coimbra.
