FREEZE! : Ty Segall - Ty Rex (Goner, 2015)

É fácil perder a conta aos múltiplos registos que Ty Segall lançou nos últimos sete anos: 17 foram apenas os longa-duração a solo, fora EPs, singles, e todos os outros LP que fez com os Fuzz (o último deles foi destaque FREEZE! de 26 a 30 de outubro) e com os muitos projetos paralelos que mantém. Se as contas estão certas, este Ty Rex, chegado às prateleiras no passado dia 27 de novembro, qual surpresa de Black Friday, será o décimo oitavo. Mas que se desenganem os que acham que, tantos discos depois, a inspiração já se lhe esgotou.

Já há sete anos, no primeiro registo homónimo deste californiano, era evidente a influência de grupos dos anos 70 como The Sonics, The Stooges e The Kingsman no seu garage rock. Ainda assim, Ty Rex mostra com ainda mais clareza a força do revivalismo na música de Ty Segall. O disco é composto inteiramente por versões de músicas dos britânicos T. Rex, grupo de Marc Bolan responsável por êxitos bem conhecidos do glam rock. Aqui, Segall junta a estes já famosos temas o caos e a explosividade a que o seu catálogo nos habituou: bom exemplo disso é a cover de "20th Century Boy", completamente revitalizada com as guitarradas do californiano.

Esta e as restantes oito faixas que compõem este Ty Rex de Ty Segall podem ser ouvidas durante esta semana, no espaço FREEZE! do Fahrenheit 107.9, às 14h.

Anna von Hausswolff conta, em entrevista à Quietus, que os pais costumavam contar-lhe uma história sobre um sítio que gostavam de visitar. Um local de beleza natural extraordinária, mas que serviu de cenário a ataques contra o reino e onde centenas de plebeus foram massacrados, deixando a paisagem imersa em sangue. Este, tornou-se, para ela, um local de terror, magia e mistério. Refere que ainda o visita regularmente, quanto mais não seja na sua imaginação. Chama ao sítio Miraculous, assim como ao seu novo álbum.

A atmosfera de Miraculous, o álbum, não surge apenas da inspiração trazida pela história contada pelos pais, mas também do facto de ter sido gravado num dos maiores órgãos de tubos da Europa, em Pieta, norte da Suécia.

Um álbum que é capaz de tocar em tudo: no gótico, no folk, no black e death metal; no sagrado e no profano, como se faz notar logo no início de The Hope of Only Empty Men: "I think I see a knight, I'm gonna fuck him for a while.''

O quarto longa-duração do quarteto britânico no ativo desde 2006 vem  reafirmar a resistencia a rótulos e à previsibiliadade: se o título Highly Deadly Black Tarantula remete de imediato para um som hard facilmente classificável, não é isso que este lançamento da Rocket Recordings nos oferece.

Se algum paralelismo se establece, será com a sonoridade dos suecos Goat, que também assinam pela etiqueta fundada por Chris Reeder e Simon Healy.

O ecletismo das seis faixas que o constituem mostra bem a teimosia em seguir um caminho muito próprio, onde noise, post rock,  industrial e dança convivem com paisagens que sugerem a negrura e o mistério duma banda sonora de  Angelo Badalamenti.

Highly Deadly Black Tarantula vai ser o destaque Freeze! até à proxima sexta.feira.

Um ano após a sua formação, os Astrodome, banda portuense formada por Pedro e Zé nas guitarras, Mike no baixo e Bruno na bateria, estreia-se nos longa duração com o seu primeiro álbum homónimo.

Depois da Live Demo lançada em 2014, o disco de estreia foi oficialmente lançado hoje, dia 8 de Novembro, pelas mãos da companhia discográfica Ya Ya Yeah. Gravado e masterizado por Marco Lima nos estúdios da Heartzcontrol conta com um total de seis temas instrumentais, dos quais Into the Deepest Space, Through the Black Hole e The Arrival são temas regravados da demo e que a banda incluiu neste homónimo de estreia juntamente com três faixas originais. Um trabalho fielmente composto no estilo efusivo do heavy psych, com passagem pelo denso doom metal, e riffs de fuzz e space rock que varrem tudo à sua volta, este álbum torna-se numa viagem cósmica para quem quiser viajar para além da lua e se perder no espaço sideral.

Esta longa viagem de 70 minutos vai estar em destaque esta semana no Fahrenheit 107.9, de segunda a sexta às 14h.
